|
By: Chhort Bunthang Abstract The 21sth century is the time of globalization, which push the world as whole toward competition of all fields. In order to get successes in their competition, sometime competitors do not care of their means they use whether illegal, immoral or not. The competition, which was done legally and morally, could bring human societies to develop, but if it was done illegally and immorally could put the human society to trouble. In fact, in the current Khmer society is attacking by the negative influence of globalization. In order to get the positive of globalization, which can be brought the world as whole to develop, tolerance, and peace, we have to put all competitions in the frame of laws and moral. From this point of view, to push me to chose the topic of my thesis “Ethics or Moral Philosophy and the Moral Practice in the Current Khmer Society”. The purpose of this topic is to stop people, especially Cambodian peopl from violence, illegal actions, immoral behaviors and other negative activities in order to build the Khmer society with full of democracy, tolerance, state of law, fairness, transparency, justice and so on. In order to succeed this goal, I think Cambodia people should know the main points as the following: 1- The importance of ethics in human societies. 2- The ethical though of famous philosophers in the world. 3- General aspects of moral in Khmer society. 4- Moral Practice in the current Khmer society. 5- The consequences of illegal and immoral action, corruption and unjust action in the Khmer society. 6- Moral character education. Ethics is important and the basis of human societies. Human societies in the world as whole cannot exist with order, peace, and happiness, if there is no ethics. Ethics is the rule of human behavior, so in a day or even one hour, every person have to face to morality. In the present, when sciences, technologies, and human thinking are more progressives and when human societies are complex, ethics is more important.
